STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) - A Loyal man accused in the drunk driving deaths of two women is headed for trial.
22-year-old Tim Saavedra waived his preliminary hearing today on four felonies in the case including two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Police say he was behind the wheel June 20th when his truck went off the road, killing 21-year-old Melissa Peterson-Suzda and 21-year-old Stephanie Eberhardt.
Data recovered from the truck shows it was going 94 miles an hour before the crash and police say he blew a 0.14 BAC after the crash.
Saavedra will be back in court to enter pleas to the charges September 16th. He faces 25 years in prison on the charges.
