UNDATED (WSAU) - A band of severe weather passed through central and northcentral Wisconsin Wednesday evening.
Five severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado warning were issued by the National Weather Service in northcentral Wisconsin. There were reports of trees and power lines down throughout the region. Quarter sized hail was reported near Laona.
There were also scattered reports of fires that may have started from lighting strikes. One lightning strike started the second floor of an East Union Avenue home on fire in Wausau. The family got out safely, and the home is repairable.
The high winds, heavy downpours, and hail brought down a lot of trees and power lines.
Wisconsin Public Service reported the most damage in the Eagle River area where about 47-hundred customers were affected. Over one thousand were without power in Mosinee. There were 86 electrical outages affecting 525 people just in Wausau.
Overall, more than 7,400 of their customers were affected and many are still without power this morning.
Wisconsin Public Service crews are still busy this morning. You can follow their progress online here.
