Xiong trial begins

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - A Wausau man’s jury trial continues Tuesday in Marathon County Circuit Court. 

The jury was selected, and the opening statements were made my mid afternoon Monday.

Prosecutors started calling witnesses against 30-year-old Ka Yeng Xiong. He is charged with attempted homicide, recklessly endangering safety, criminal damage to property, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Xiong has a long criminal history. Prosecutors refer to him as a “gang leader” who fired several 9 millimeter rounds, with two bullets striking a parked SUV near 28th and Stewart Avenue in Wausau.

Judge Greg Grau is expected to hear testimony all week.

Xiong remains jailed on a $250,000 cash bond.
