EAGLE RIVER, Wis. (WSAU) - Vilas County will swear in a new Sheriff Friday morning.

The ceremony starts at 9-o’clock to swear in Joe Fath as the new Vilas County Sheriff. Governor Scott Walker made the appointment to fill the remaining term of Frank Tomlanovich, who lost his battle with cancer in June. The ceremony is at the Vilas County Courthouse in Eagle River. Fath will have to run for election in the fall of 2014 to keep the position that Tomlanovich held for 34 years.

Governor Walker again selected the chief deputy to succeed a former sheriff. He did the same thing earlier this summer when he appointed Scott Parks to complete Randy Hoenisch’s term in Marathon County.
