MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - A new public transit service takes to the streets of Marshfield to start the New Year, replacing Radio Cab which had operated in the city for almost 30 years. Mayor Chris Meyer says Running Inc. was awarded the contract and will operate the new service under the name Marshfield Public Transit. Meyer says they now provide a higher level of service at a lower cost. Meyer says the public should expect a smooth transition and that the new “shared ride” transit service is paid for in part by federal and state programs that help provide transportation for handicapped, elderly, and low-income individuals. Viroqua based Running Inc. already provides public transportation for 10 other communities around the state of Wisconsin.
