WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) There was a partial roof collapse at Graphic Packaging International on Bridge Street in Wausau. It happened around 10pm Saturday night. The cause is still under investigation.
There were employees in the building at the time of the incident. No one was injured. Workers were sent home once firefighters arrived and the area was secured.
The collapse happened over the manufacturing part of the facility, and the hole in the roof is said to be about 40-by-80 feet. The collapse also damaged the sprinkler pipes in the building, and caused extensive flooding and water damage. Much of the water began turning to ice because of the extreme cold.
The company will announce additional information on how the collapse will impact their Wausau operations shortly.
