WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- A proposed new Kwik Trip on Bridge Street on Wausau's west side may not be happening just yet.
Wausau's plan commission has voted to not recommend a request to rezone some property on the corner of Bridge Street and Stevens Drive currently owned by St Anne Parish for the construction of a Kwik Trip store and car wash. That's on the corner just east of the US 39/Bridge Street interchange.
A number of residents spoke out against the plan, saying they don't want traffic and lights coming into the residential area 24 hours a day.
The commission voted against recommending the request 4 to 2. That will now go on to City Council which will have the final vote. If approved, this will be the ninth Kwik Trip in the metro area.
