WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Weston couple that exhausted all appeals, and was convicted of reckless homicide for the death of their diabetic daughter is expected back in court today.

A motions hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday for Dale and Leilani Neumann of Weston. The Neumann’s lost a State Supreme Court appeal, and now Marathon County prosecutors say it’s time for the sentence to be served.

The parents of Kara Neumann were each sentenced to a month in jail once a year for six years plus ten years probation and community service. That sentence was on hold during the appeals process. Expect the District Attorney’s office to seek a definite starting time for those sentences to be served.

11-year-old Kara Neumann died of untreated diabetes nearly six years ago. Dale and Leilani Neumann prayed for her to recover instead of taking her to a doctor.

The case was filed in April of 2008 after Kara’s death. The Neumann’s have also been assessed over $72,000 in court costs.
