STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- A Portage County man will spend four years in prison for selling heroin. 26-year-old Adam Souza was given that sentence Tuesday by Judge Thomas Eagon. Prosecutors convinced the court Souza sold heroin to support his own addiction to the drug.
Police found drugs in his home with children present when they executed a search warrant in June of 2012. The investigators also found pills and paraphernalia used to distribute the drugs. Souza’s cellphone had several text messages related to drug trafficking when he was arrested.
When Souza gets out of prison, he will be on extended supervision for another five years. He must also go through drug treatment and counseling in prison.
