WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The man accused of shooting another man outside of a Wausau tavern was in court Tuesday. 31-year-old John M. Lewis made an initial appearance on 25 felony and one misdemeanor charges before Judge Jill Falstad. The charges include first degree intentional homicide for shooting 27-year-old K.C. Elliott.
Prosecutor Lance Leonhard believes the evidence proves Lewis intentionally killed Elliott.
Other charges include use of a silencer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. There are also charges for possessing heroin, marijuana, and paraphernalia.
Lewis is being held on a one million dollar cash bond. The time limits were waived for his preliminary hearing, and attorneys will get together with the judge’s assistant Monday to select a hearing date.
