UPDATE:  The Mark Bucki case is now in the hands of the jury.  After about two hours of the prosecution's closing statements and only 13 minutes of closing remarks from the defense, two men and one woman were chosen as alternate jurors.  That remaining 6 men and 6 women began deliberations at 3:45 p.m.

MERRILL, Wis. (WSAU) -- The testimony is complete in the Mark Bucki murder trial.

The defendant took the witness stand shortly after 8 o’clock Tuesday morning, and told the court he had nothing to do with the death of his estranged wife Anita last May. Bucki confirmed that his relationship with Anita was more like roommates, and that she was aware he wanted a new relationship with a woman named Angie. Mark Bucki also denies stabbing, strangling, or harming Anita.

Bucki was questioned for about two hours before the state recalled another witness in rebuttal to something Bucki said on the stand.

The jury is out of the courtroom until 1:00 p.m. That’s when closing arguments will begin. The jury is expected to get the case late this afternoon.
