STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- Stevens Point police are looking for a man and a van after a suspicious incident that occurred Tuesday.

A 10-year-old boy was walking in the 2700 block of Indiana Avenue when the man stopped his grey minivan next to him, and asked if he wanted to go to the Dollar Store. The boy said “no” and the man drove away. The boy did not recognize the man.

He’s described as around 40-years-old with a reddish beard. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.

Stevens Point Police Detective Sgt. Joe Gruber says the man did not get out of the van and he did not say anything else to the boy, but they would like to know who he is.

Parents are reminded to talk to their children about what to do when strangers approach them.

Anyone with information about the mysterious man and his van is encouraged to contact Stevens Point Police at 715-346-1500, or call 9-1-1 if urgent.
