BIG FLATS, Wis. (WSAU) -- Nearly 50,000 acres of forestland is being sold, but the buyer and seller say most people will probably not even notice.
The land is considered industrial forestland, and sprawls across northern Adams and southern Wood counties in the Big Flats and Saratoga areas. Plum Creek is the company selling the land, and Atlanta, Georgia-based Timberland Investment Resources is the buyer. They plan to continue treating the property as a long-term forestry investment for their large scale institutional investor clients. There will be forest management practices in place and timber harvesting as necessary.
Plum Creek will still have about 11,000 acres, but most of that land is committed to future development of a links style golf course near Rome and a large scale dairy in Saratoga.
