WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- Get ready for the first big party of the year on the 400 Block as the Frontier Fest opens tonight.

It's a charity event from Frontier Communications and hosted by Wausau Events. Wausau Events director Kari Rasmussen says says it's all a charity event so Frontier can introduce themselves to the community. "You can get to know the Marathon County Humane Society and the Neighbors Place, they'll both be having booths. And just some really great music. It's just the first big event of the season on the 400 Block so we're very excited to help produce this."

On stage tonight are Brad Emanuel, Windsor Drive, Tuscan Road, and the Spicy Tie Band. Rasmussen says there's plenty more going on as well. "Besides the bands that will be playing we'll be having several food vendors, and it sounds like Frontier has coordinated a great silent auction and raffle prizes.

The event is free, but you're being asked to bring some donations. "They're looking for things like kitten food, Lysol, garbage bags, and specifically Tuna Helper for the Neighbors Place, so they'll be collecting those donations for the event." Rasmussen says each organisation will be collecting at their booth.

The event starts tonight at 5 pm.
