JUNCTION CITY, Wis. (WSAU) -- Homes in Junction City were briefly evacuated Saturday morning after a fire broke out on some train equipment in the village.

Dispatchers got a call around 8 am that about a fire on a piece of repair equipment near the corner of Main Street and Morgan Avenue. Crews had a special vehicle moving with the repair crews that would put out incidental fires caused by track repair, but one of the fires got out of control. Fire crews from nearby Rudolph, along with Canadian National hazmat teams responded to put out the fire.

Residents on Morgan Avenue were evacuated for a short time as a precaution but were allowed back into their homes once the fire was contained.

No one was injured during the fire. The fire is under investigation, but deputies say a diesel leak was found on the piece of equipment.
