STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- The four men accused of attacking another man in a Stevens Point park were in court Monday.

A preliminary hearing was held for all four suspects in the Memorial Day beating of a 36-year-old man near the Iverson Park playground equipment. Angelo Garcia, Frank Martinez, Auston Ortiz, and Jesus Rangel were in Portage County circuit court along with their four lawyers.

A witness was able to identify all four suspects, and Assistant District Attorney David Knaapan told the court Garcia did the action of striking the victim with help from Martinez and Rangel, while Ortiz drove the getaway vehicle. Attorneys for Martinez and Ortiz unsuccessfully tried to have their client’s charges dismissed.

Judge Thomas Flugaur bound all four over for trial, seeing a felony was committed and the suspects probably committed it. Arraignment hearings are scheduled for August 18.

All four suspects remain in jail, unable to post a $15,000 cash bond. If they do post bond, they are not to have any contact with Daniel Sanchez and Steven Solis.

Another person of interest in the Memorial Day assault is 20-year-old Eric Constante. So far, police have been unable to locate him for questioning. Anyone that knows the whereabouts of Constante is encouraged to contact Stevens Point Police at 715-346-1500, or your nearest law enforcement agency.
