WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis (WSAU) The future of Pittsville Homes is in doubt. The company manufactures prefab housing in Wood County.
Earlier this week there was a message on the company web site saying they'd be ceasing operations. That message - which said "after 40 years in the housing business, Pittsville Homes will be shutting down". Since then, the web site itself has been taken off-line.
The company hasn't commented. WSAW-TV is reporting that a sale is pending, but it's unclear if the sale involves the company's land or the company itself.
The state's Department of Workforce Development needs to be notified whenever a company lays off more than 50 people. They've received no notice from Pittsville Homes as of yesterday.
