BIRNAMWOOD, Wis. (WSAU) -- A school bell that dates back to the late 1800s was returned to Birnamwood in a ceremony on Saturday.
About 100 people were in attendance when the bell was rung to commemorate the opening of the new Birnamwood Community Center.
The bell was used in front of Birnamwood High School until its closure in the 1970s and has been kept in Antigo by a former teacher since. Many community members can still remember when the bell was used regularly and are happy to have it back in the village.
