GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAU) -- Classes will start two weeks late at a Green Bay high school due to fire damage.
The original first day of classes for Preble High School had been set for September 2nd, but a fire damaged the school’s gymnasium August 8th. Fire investigators have determined that rags that had been used to resurface the gym’s floor spontaneously combusted after not being properly disposed.
Green Bay School District officials say they will avoid using weekends and holidays to make up for the lost time. Classes are now scheduled to start September 15th. The school year’s closing date hasn’t changed.
