MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAU) -- Now that the Labor Day holiday is over, the orange barrels will be out again on many Wisconsin highways. Most all construction zones will resume activity Tuesday or Wednesday.
There are also some new works zones motorists will have to be careful in. I-39 in Portage and Marathon Counties will have single lane closures on the north and southbound lanes between Highway DB in Knowlton and Maple Ridge Road for bridge maintenance from Tuesday through Thursday.
Highway 51 will have three scheduled traffic shutdowns at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. near the U and K project on Wausau’s north side. The traffic will be stopped for up to twenty minutes to allow for blasting. The on ramp to northbound 51 from K is also closing Wednesday, and will remain closed until November. Traffic will be detoured using Highways U, K, and WW, with northbound traffic getting back on Highway 51 at Brokaw.
A new project is starting Wednesday in Waupaca County. The busy intersection of West Fulton Street and Highway QQ is being reconstructed.
