WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Wausau man accused in a shooting outside a Rothschild bar is heading to trial.
27-year-old Alex Hammoc was in Marathon County court Wednesday morning for a preliminary hearing. Judge Greg Grau ruled that there was enough evidence to bind him over for first degree recklessly endangering safety, substantial battery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and intentionally pointing a firearm at a person.
Court records show that Hammoc taunted his victim during an argument August 3rd before firing a silver colored semi automatic pistol. The report says Hammoc also pointed the weapon at another person before pointing at the shooting victim.
When the victim charged towards Hammoc, the bouncer had to break them up. It was then that Hammoc allegedly fired the pistol from about five feet away striking the man’s thigh.
Hammoc is being held on a $250,000 cash bond. Future court dates will be set at a later date.
