WESTON, Wis. (WSAU) -- Everest Metro Police say they're expanding their search for a man who robbed a bank last month.
Captain Clayton Schulz says they've been striking out so far with just the photos of the suspect. "We have gone through at least 40 names provided, as tips on the suspect and all those have proven to be not helpful. We've checked their alibis, and haven't had anything successful on those tips, but we do appreciate more coming forward if anyone has more information."
Schulz says that typically when they have these sorts of cases, if the suspect is a local, they'll have a number of tips all pointing to the same person, but so far that's not been the case. "We have extended this search quite broadly, we started out small with our investigators in the Marathon County area, we've extended to the northern central area of the state, and extended it to other investigative groups such as the Fox Valley."
That includes the FBI, who was brought in because bank robberies are also federal matters. Schulz says the FBI's bank crimes unit is now going over the evidence in the case. "And if they get something similar based on the actions at the scene, then we'll get in touch with the other jurisdiction and vice versa. We'll share notes, and maybe we have more information that they don't." Evidence in the case is also now at the state crime lab for more analysis.
