MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- Police were attacked by a dog early Saturday in Marshfield.
Wood County Sheriff’s Department officials say the pit bull went after deputies and Marshfield police as they were responding to a complaint about a person passed out on the sidewalk in the 500 block of South Cedar Avenue. While at the scene, the loose dog attacked. A deputy fired one shot, stopping the attack.
Marshfield Police Department officers say the dog is at a neighborhood veterinary clinic now, where it is being treated for survivable injuries. Police will be following up with the dog’s owner to make sure adequate safety measures are in place when the dog goes home.
The attack and shooting happened at 5:57 a.m.
