BEAVER DAM, Wis. (WSAU) -- A sprint car driver is dead after flipping his car three times during a practice session at Beaver Dam Speedway Saturday night.
47-year-old Scott Semmelmann of Brookfield was racing for the first time this year when his car made contact with another car during the practice session. According to speedway officials, many attendees chose to donate their offered refunds for their tickets to Semmelmann’s family.
He is the second sprint car driver in the last two months to be fatally injured in a race accident after Kevin Ward, Jr. was killed when he was hit by NASCAR driver Tony Stewart last month.
