MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (WSAU) -- On Monday, we told you about D.C. Everest senior Meghan Hellrood, who is organizing a boycott of school lunches prepared under the guidelines of Michelle Obama’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, due to the small portions and poor quality.

That story was noticed by a lot of people, both in America and some overseas news outlets. The story was picked up by several wire services and national networks.

Today, Meghan Hellrood is not in school. She was invited to travel to Minneapolis to talk about the lunches and the planned boycott on the Fox and Friends television program, so no school lunch for her until tomorrow.

Meghan’s story is similar to some others around the country. Students at several schools have expressed their views about the new lunch menus, and another school in Farmington, Connecticut are boycotting school lunches this week.

The planned D.C. Everest boycott is November 13th.
