
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) - Nobody was hurt during an armed standoff in Wisconsin Rapids Thursday afternoon. Police were called to the Maples Mobile Home Park on 8th Street South at about 4:00 p.m. Officers were able to make telephone contact with an 81-year-old man who was holding a gun to the head of another person.
The standoff didn’t last long, and the victim was able to leave the residence unharmed. The gunman eventually came out of the residence after talking to a negotiator.
Police Chief Kurt Heuer says the general public was not in danger during the indoor standoff. Officers from Grand Rapids, Nekoosa, Port Edwards, and the Wood County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene. The incident was over at 5:11 p.m.
