BIG FLATS, Wis (WSAU) The winds died down last night in Adams County, allowing firefighters to contain a wildfire in Big Flats. One home was destroyed and 15-acres were blackened. Firefighters were concerned it would have been much worse without a change in the weather.
The fire started around 8pm Tuesday in a home at 15th Court. The cause of the fire hasn't been determined. That home was gutted.
On Tuesday night flames were shooting 15-feet into the air -- tall enough to catch some trees on fire.
This is the same area that was devastated by a major wildfire in 2005 that charred more than 3,000 acres.
