WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) A 7-year-old girl who was bitten by her neighbor's pit-bull is out of the hospital and is back home with her family. The dog will probably be put down.
The girl lost part of her lower lip in the incident, and underwent facial reconstructive surgery. The dog bit her in the face while it was on a leash in a shared back yard at a duplex on North 5th Street. The dog has been under quarantine at the humane society ever since.
Wausau police chief Jeff Hardell has ruled that the dog is a dangerous animal. A report obtained by the Wausau Daily Herald noted that the same dog bit the victim's brother, doesn't have proof of vaccination, and isn't licensed. The police chief has the power to ban dangerous animals in the city limits. The owners have until Wednesday to decide if they'll voluntarily put the dog down.
