MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - With the hot weather comes the use of more electricity to power those air conditioners! In Marshfield, interim utility director Bob Trussoni says that while power demands are higher than normal, it’s not like hot spell of 2006. According to Trussoni, “We are seeing the highest loads of the year, but they’re still lower than what we’ve had in the past.”

The lower usage levels are being attributed in part to an increase in the use of compact fluorescent bulbs, and energy efficient equipment and appliances. Marshfield’s new “peaking” power plant that came on-line several years ago has also been a big success in the hot weather. Trussoni says that, “As far as what we purchased it for, which is to keep our price of wholesale power down, it’s been doing a fantastic job.”
