MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) If you’ve ever visited the McDonald’s in Marshfield, you know its business is booming and drive-through traffic often backs up into the street. Now, the business is planning to expand on more land.

Director of operations Chris Conner says that first, the Golden Arches will have to go dark for about 90 days. Conner says the new drive-through lanes will more than double the number of cars that it can accommodate before traffic overflows into Ives Street and says, “This will be the new prototype McDonald’s building, the first one in the Midwest.”

All employees are being given the opportunity to work at other locations while the facility is closed down.

Conner says that furnishings from the old facility will be shipped to Nicaragua for use in schools and churches.
