WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Good weather and great acts made for a great year at the Wisconsin Valley Fair.
Fair administrator Maria Budnik says everything went well this year. "We had fantastic weather, fantastic shows, fantastics market sales, so we're really excited for the year we had." Last year's fair ran during the middle of the summer long heat wave, which pushed attendance down a bit. Early estimates put this year's attendance at around 150,000 people.
The fair had a number of new events this year, including a reptile show, and Budnik says that's a great draw. "Whenever we have any sort of animal exhibit or reptile exhibit, those do really well. Any extra entertainment we can offer families for free is a really great thing to offer."
Budnik says they're excited to look ahead to next year. "We're just looking forward to 2014. Plans start at the end of September, so we'll just keep going and hope for a great fair in 2014."
