WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) The Wausau Waterworks completed repairs to a broken water main yesterday on 6th Avenue just north of Bridge Street. DPW trucks salted and sanded the roads nearby to melt away the ice that accumulated on the roadway after water came up through the manholes on Sunday night.
None of the nearby homes were damaged.
The cold weather is to blame for the pipe failure below the street.
With milder weather in the 20s expected on Saturday, and then more extreme cold on Sunday and Monday it’s possible that more water-main breaks could occur.
