WESTON, Wis. (WSAU) -- Police say it may take several months to determine the exact identity of a person who died in a trailer home fire.
Everest Metro Police Chief Wally Sparks says the medical examiner's office is now having to turn to DNA testing to determine the identity of the victim who died in the fire.
Sparks says that interviews with the other victims are leading them to believe that the deceased person is the mother of two of the other victims, but that until familial DNA testing is completed, they won't be able to positively identify the victim.
They also aren't yet sure on the exact cause of death in the case. Investigators are still waiting for a full autopsy and toxicology report to come back. Preliminary reports say it may have been the fire itself that killed the victim.
