WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) --

The Athens woman accused of stealing half a million dollars from her employer has entered into a plea agreement. 40-year-old Michelle Walters is accused of taking the money from Northwestern Wisconsin Association over a nearly 20-year period.

Walters has paid $100,000 of the money back to the retirement benefits company.

The attorneys are recommending two years in prison followed by four years of supervised release for each of three convictions consecutively. The other four counts will be dismissed and read in at sentencing.

The District Attorney is seeking prison time for the two years. The defense would like county jail time and probation. That will be up to Judge Michael Moran at sentencing June 13th.
