PLOVER, Wis. (WSAU) -- A major road project gets underway in Portage County, weather permitting. County Highway R in Plover behind Kohls, Lowe’s, and Walmart will be closed to traffic from the Highway HH intersection southward past Porter Road.
Road construction crews will be widening the road to four lanes and rebuilding the entire Porter Road and Highway R intersection. The road will remained closed until July 18th.
Construction crews are hoping for favorable weather for this project, so it can be completed before the August dates of Farm Technology Days, which is being hosted by Portage County adjacent to the construction zone.
Also, survey crews will be in the north and southbound lanes of I-39 south of Plover between Highway D and Birch Drive starting Wednesday for two days. Expect lane closures during the survey work.
