WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- A former officer of the Wausau Area Builders Association is facing embezzlement charges. 43-year-old Christopher Briquelet of Iola is accused of taking over $167,000 from the association’s bank account between 2009 and 2012.
The Board of Directors gave Briquelet the opportunity to pay back the money, but that didn’t happen.
The missing money was discovered after the WABA had some checks bounce, and an audit was done.
Briquelet is free on a $150,000 signature bond. His next court appearance may be arranged Tuesday afternoon.
