STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- It’s going to take a lot of volunteers to help put together Wisconsin’s largest agricultural show. Amanda Baldischwiler is the volunteer recruitment coordinator for this year’s Farm Technology Days hosted by Portage County August 12th through the 14th. She says it takes a lot of people to work behind the scenes to make the event successful. “We’re looking for between 1,500 and 2,000, and that’s going to cover all three days and obviously set up, take down, everything that is really needed for all of the ins and outs to run a successful 2014 Farm Technology Days.”
Two-thousand people may seem like an impossible number of volunteers to find, but Baldischwiler says she’s confident they will reach their goal. “I’m lucky to have some amazing chairs and co-chairs of all of our different committees, and they help with their own committees, friends and family, but also, I’ve had great response from local community organizations, businesses who will contact me or I will contact them.”
Baldischwiler says the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and several church groups have also stepped up with helpers for the show, but they still need many more. She says signing up to help on one, two, or all three days can be done on their website. “First, visit our website at portagecountyfarmtech.com. There’s a volunteer section on there, or they can give me a call at 715-434-6286, or my email.” Amanda Baldischwiler's e-mail address is: baldischwilera@county.po.wi.us.
