WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation will get a closer look at how banking regulations affect smaller, community banks.
F.D.I.C Chairman Martin Gruenberg will be in Wausau along with Congressman Sean Duffy, where he will hear from local banking officials about how several new regulations intended for large banks are making it difficult for small banks to operate.
Gruenberg will be meeting with local bank officials Monday morning. River Valley Bank is hosting the meeting. It is rare for F.D.I.C officials to make local visits.River Valley Bank President and CEO Todd Nagel says they are, “excited to have this very rare opportunity to talk to policy-makers at the federal level about decisions that can have a very large impact on local banks.”
Other community bankers will participate, including Paul Adamski, President and CEO of The Pineries Bank in Stevens Point.
