MADISON, Wis. -- An Almond man will spend the next eleven years in a federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine.
33-year-old Eric Zastrow was given ten and a half years in prison this week by U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman, after entering a guilty plea to the drug charges back in April.
Another six months was tacked on to Zastrow’s sentence for having his girlfriend Jennifer Schoenfeldt mail him suboxone strips, which is another opioid drug, while he was in the Dane County Jail. Schoenfeldt will be sentenced for her part in that crime August 12th.
Utah Highway Patrol officers pulled Zastrow’s car over November 10th, and found four pounds of meth in the trunk. The drug was tested, and found to be 99.8% pure. During interrogation, Zastrow told officers he bought the drug in the Las Vegas area and intended to drive back to Wausau, where he would sell it. The charges against Zastrow were the result of an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration; Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation, Marathon County Sheriff’s Department Special Investigations Unit, Dane County Sheriff’s Department, and the Utah Highway Patrol.
