3rd person sentenced for drug distribution on tribal lands

MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- Another person has been sentenced for his involvement in a drug distribution ring on Lac du Flambeau tribal lands.

28-year-old Derek Armstrong of Lac du Flambeau was given two years in prison followed by three years of supervised release for distributing Oxycodone.

Armstrong pled guilty to the charges April 16th. Investigators caught him wiring money to his Milwaukee source of the illegal drug, and arrested him with 54-hundred dollars is drug sale proceeds in his possession.

Armstrong is the third of five people involved in the drug trafficking ring to be sentenced. Brandon and Lois Vetterneck have already been given probation. Charlie Sunn Meshigaud and Andrew Meshigaud will be sentenced August 22nd.
