STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- Health professionals met again with law enforcement agencies to discuss the growing problem with heroin. The third Heroin Summit was hosted by the Stevens Point Police Department Thursday, and included agencies from Wood and Portage counties.
All involved are looking for ways to deal with the addiction, which often leads to more crime and deaths. This session was a closed session with representatives from Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, pharmacists, and officers from police and sheriff’s departments in the two counties.
There will be another Heroin Summit early next month. That session will be open to the public.
