Three teens dead in Shawano County traffic crash

SHAWANO, Wis. (WSAU) -- A late Tuesday afternoon crash has left three teenagers dead.

Shawano County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Craig Rekoske says the crashed happened on Highway 22 at Friendship Road in the Town of Eau Plaine, southwest of Shawano at 5:21 p.m. They received a call indicating there were multiple injuries.

When officers arrived, they found a white passenger car had been northbound on Highway 22 and lost control, crossing into the southbound lane of traffic. It collided with a southbound SUV. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Two more people were transported to the Shawano Medical Center, where one of them died a short time later.

Rekoske says the deceased individuals are an 18-year-old male from Shawano, a 17-year-old male from Shawano, and a 15-year-old female from Bonduel.

No names are being released until the family has been notified and the crash investigation is completed.

Wisconsin State Patrol’s accident reconstruction team is assisting Shawano County Sheriff’s deputies with the investigation. Other assisting agencies were the Belle Plaine Emergency Medical Services, Shawano Area Fire Department, Shawano Ambulance, and the Shawano Police Department.
