SHAWANO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) -Three teenagers are dead after a crash in Shawano County.

It happened before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 22 in the Town of Belle Plaine.

The sheriff’s department says the driver of a Ford Mustang lost control and crossed the center line, and was hit by an oncoming SUV.

Two teens were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to the hospital, where one later died. The teens killed were identified as 15-year-old Paige Brunette of Bonduel; 17-year-old Cody Borsche of Shawano; and 18-year-old Tyler Welch of Shawano.

The driver of the Mustang, 17-year-old Ryan Swadner of Clintonville, was hospitalized.

The SUV driver was taken to the hospital by relatives and had non-life-threatening injuries, sheriff’s officials say. No other information was released about the driver of the SUV.

Swadner, Borsche and Welch all attended Shawano Community High School, where school leaders said counselors were on hand. Brunette went to Bonduel High School, which was also providing counseling services.

The crash is still under investigation.
