MOSINEE, Wis (WSAU) -- State Representative John Spiros is the recipient of the Wisconsin Grocers Association’s “Friend of Grocers” award. The Marshfield Republican says the award is in recognition of his legislative work on issues that affect the grocery industry, and really end up affecting virtually everyone. According to Spiros, “We can’t do without groceries stories. All of us need to eat, and we need to have our necessities.”
Spiros said that he’s proud of the award since the grocery industry helps drive Wisconsin’s economy, “employing 50,000 people with 850-million dollars in payroll. They generate more than 6-billion dollars in annual sales here in Wisconsin.” Having worked in the grocery business as a youth, and Spiros’ current private sector job with Roehl Transport helps get food items to market
WGA President Brandon Schultz says Spiros’ work as a legislator has been “invaluable” to Wisconsin’s grocery industry. The award was presented at Lee’s Piggly Wiggly in Mosinee.
