WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- One of the men involved in the beating death of a Wausau man over two years ago is going to prison for a long time. 20-year-old Zachary Froehlich was sentenced in Marathon County Circuit Court to 35 years in prison followed by another 15 years on extended supervision.
Froelich was convicted of breaking into the home of 49-year-old Kerby Kneiss in June of 2012 along with accomplice Warren Krohn. They planned to steal from his garage, and instead, they beat Kneiss to death and took cash, liquor, and cigarettes before fleeing.
Judge Jill Falstad gave Froehlich credit for 868 days in jail. He will be transported to the Dodge Correctional Institute in Waupun, where corrections officials will determine which prison he will go to.
