
UPDATE - Everest Metro police report Charles Harleben has been apprehended in Portage County. Deputies were waiting for him at a home near Plover. He tried to flee in his vechile, but was quickly surrounded by squad cars.
A police report says Harleben refused to leave his vehicle. Deputies broke a side window, tasered him, and took him into custody. He's being held in the Portage County jail.
WESTON, Wis. (WSAU) -- A manhunt is on for a Wittenberg man that eluded police officers after a brief, high speed chase Tuesday.
He’s 30-year-old Charles J. Hartleben. Hartleben is a white male, six foot tall, 220 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He also has facial hair and may be wearing glasses.
Everest Metro Police officers tried to arrest Hartleben on an outstanding warrant. He was last seen driving a maroon 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with Wisconsin license plate 261-WWZ. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is encouraged to call law enforcement immediately.
Hartleben works in Wausau but has ties to the Wittenberg area. He’s wanted for parole violation and some additional felony charges.
