EAGLE RIVER, WI (WSAU) - Distance runners will converge on Eagle River Saturday, as the Journey’s Marathon is run. The popular running event starts near White Birch Village on County Highway K near Boulder Junction and ends at Riverview Park in Eagle River.
Buses transport runners from the Northland Pines High School to the start line in Boulder Junction promptly at 6:45 a.m. for the full marathon. There is also a half marathon and a power walk event.
One of the runners is Trent Morrow from Sydney, Australia. Morrow is attempting to break the Guinness World Record of 114 completed marathons in a calendar year and another unsubstantiated claim of a runner completing 157 marathons in a year. The Eagle River event will be Morrow’s 44th marathon so far this year, including a stretch where he ran 12 consecutive days in 12 California marathons.
