
CRANDON, WI (WXPR) - An Armstrong Creek man has avoided prison time but will be jailed for a February incident at his home in Forest County.
A first-degree attempted homicide charge was dropped against 52 year old Forrest Schaller. Schaller was arrested after gunshots were fired February 3 at a Dallman Road residence. Two people were found unhurt in the home.
In a plea bargain, Forest County Judge Leon Stenz dismissed the attempted homicide charge, accepted charges of recklessly endangering safety and a felon in possession of weapon. Judge Stenz also dismissed charges of obstructing an officer and having a weapon while intoxicated.
Stenz sentenced Schaller to 8 years probation with one year in the county jail, he must maintain absolute sobriety, pay a $2500 dollar fine plus a domestic violence surcharge, and provide 250 hours of community service and counseling.
