TOMAHAWK, WI (WSAU) -  A Tomahawk man is at the University of Wisconsin Hospital Burn Center for treatment after a plant accident Tuesday morning at the PCA Tomahawk Mill. PCA’s spokesman Dave Blank says 53-year-old Mike Slesicki was reigniting a coal and bark boiler using standard operating procedures when it flared back and burned him.

Blank says the boiler was down for routine maintenance, and was being put back into service when the accident happened at 9:40 a.m. PCA is conducting an investigation of the boiler and circumstances around the relighting accident.

Slesicki was flown to Madison for treatment. Blank says his family is with him.

University of Wisconsin Hospital was unable to report Slesicki’s condition late Tuesday.
