WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - A Mosinee man has been arrested in connection with the deadly traffic crash on Wausau’s Thomas Street Bridge March 23rd.
Michael Dixon died in the crash, and his four-year-old son was critically injured. Police Captain Bryan Hilts says 22-year-old Kyle M. Kennedy was taken into custody Thursday for allegedly supplying heroin to Dixon... (7845 :10 sec.)
Hilts says detectives were able to connect Kennedy to Dixon just minutes before the fatal crash.... (7846 :12 sec.)
Kennedy was booked into jail on charges of delivery of heroin, obstructing an officer, and bail jumping. He is expected to make an initial appearance in Marathon County Circuit Court Friday at 2:00 p.m. Hilts says the investigation is ongoing, so additional charges are possible.
Hilts says this case is a reminder that you can be held liable someone’s death if you supplied the drugs... (7844 :17 sec.)
Heroin use has been growing in Marathon County, and it may be tied to changes in other prescription opiates being reformulated. Oxycotin and Oxycodone now have a time release formula which prevents abusing the medication. Heroin use spiked shortly after that happened. (7847 :16 sec.)
